This guide adds an AI chatbot to a WordPress site, trained on your own pages, in about 10 minutes. You don't write code. You need a WordPress admin login and the address of your site.
It uses ReplyBash's free plan: 100 messages a month, one agent and up to 50 trained pages, no card. The plugin and the snippet method both work on any WordPress site, whatever the theme.
What you need before you start
- Admin access to the WordPress site (you can install plugins).
- Your site's public address, such as yourcompany.com. The agent reads public pages only.
- Optional: price lists, FAQs or brochures as PDF, Word, text, Markdown or CSV files, up to 25 MB each.
If your site is behind a password, or blocks crawlers in robots.txt, the agent can't read it. See the note under step 3.
Step 1: create your account and agent
- Go to signup and create an account with your email or Continue with Google. Enter the 6-digit code we email you.
- On About you, enter your name, company and role, then click Continue.
- On Website, enter your Website URL and click Scan site. We find your pages from your sitemap.
- Under What should we read?, keep Entire website, or turn off sections you don't want (for example a blog). Click Start reading. Reading takes a minute or two and you can continue meanwhile.
- Optional: under Add documents, drop in PDFs or FAQs. Your agent answers from them as from your pages.
- On Your agent, pick what it should do (Answer support questions, Capture leads), give it a name, pick a Tone of voice and check the Brand color we found on your site. Click Continue.
- On Go live, pick WordPress and click Launch my agent. Your workspace stays on the Free plan.
The Website step says why: robots.txt blocks our crawler, a bot check stands in the way, or the pages are built with JavaScript. The fix for each is written on screen, and you can always upload your content as files instead.
Step 2: install the plugin
The ReplyBash plugin isn't in the wordpress.org directory yet. You download it from your dashboard and upload it to WordPress, which takes a minute.
- In your dashboard, open Embed & share and choose the WordPress tab.
- Click Download plugin (.zip).
- In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New, then click Upload Plugin and choose the zip file. Click Install Now, then Activate.
- Go to Settings › ReplyBash and click Connect.
- You land on ReplyBash, where you sign in if needed. Check the agent shown and click Approve. This adds your site to Allowed domains and sends you back to WordPress with the agent connected.
Back in WordPress the settings page says it's connected to your agent. Visit your site in a private window: the chat button appears in the corner.
Or paste the snippet without the plugin
If you can't install plugins, or you use a managed host that blocks uploads, paste one line of code into your footer instead.
- On Go live, or the Script tag tab in Embed & share, copy the snippet. Go live shows where to paste it for WordPress.
- Install a header and footer code plugin such as WPCode, or open Appearance › Theme File Editor › footer.php.
- Paste the snippet in the footer, before the closing body tag, and save.
<script src="https://your-app-address/embed.js" data-agent-id="YOUR_AGENT_ID" defer></script>
Use the snippet from your dashboard, not this example: it holds your agent's ID and your app's address. Editing footer.php directly is lost when the theme updates; a child theme or a code plugin avoids that.
Step 3: launch and check it works
- Open your site and ask a question you know your pages answer, such as your opening hours or a price. The answer links to the page it came from.
- Ask something your site doesn't cover. The agent says it doesn't know and offers your contact form.
- In the dashboard, the checklist shows Installed on your site once the first visit is detected, and Embed & share shows Detected on your domain.
Questions the agent couldn't answer are listed on the Overview page under Unanswered questions. Click Answer, type the reply once, and it uses your wording from then on. The guide on training your chatbot covers this in detail.
Make it look and behave like your site
Open Embed & share in your dashboard and go to Appearance. Everything there publishes to your site within a minute, with no change in WordPress.
- Style: Brand color, Header color, Corner style, Position (Left or Right) and Launcher icon.
- Content: Widget title, Greeting and up to three Starter questions.
- Pages: under Show the chat bubble on, choose All pages, All except… (for example /checkout) or Only….
- In WordPress, Settings › ReplyBash also lets you hide the chat from logged-in staff.
What the free plan covers, and when to upgrade
The Free plan gives 100 message credits a month (one reply is one credit) and reads up to 50 pages. When credits run out, the widget shows your contact form instead of replying, so visitors can still reach you.
Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. They add more credits, more pages, daily re-reads of your site, meeting booking and Shopify. See pricing for the plans. If you run a shop, the WordPress integration page covers the plugin in more detail.
If the chat doesn't show up
- Clear your site's cache plugin and any CDN cache, then reload in a private window.
- In Embed & share, check Allowed domains includes your site's domain. Each domain includes its www. version.
- If you hid the chat by page, check the rule under Show the chat bubble on.
- If the plugin's Connect button says the link expired, click Connect again: the link lasts 15 minutes.
